Editorial Note: In preparation for DIScision 2016, we invited the candidates to introduce themselves to you, the voter. We have decided to share their comments unedited and unabridged. The opinions expressed by the candidates are not necessarily those of the hosts of The Florida Project.
In accordance with the Commission of Presidential Debates dictates, the following is my official platform for my candidacy for president of the Walt Disney World Resort.
First, my platform endorses thematic continuity. No longer will attractions or entertainment options be shoehorned into a park or land in which is does not fit. The guest experience is paramount and the experience is highlighted by adhering to the theme and the story.
To buttress our desire to be thematically constant, we are forced to admit that it is also time for expansion. Walt Disney World must expand and must have a fifth gate. Not only is this necessary for Walt Disney World to stay competitive in a dynamic entertainment market in Central Florida, but it is necessary to reward our guests for years of dedicated park going and to entice new visitors. If elected, negotiations with Universal will begin in earnest to obtain the rights to character interactions and attractions for all Marvel holdings for Walt Disney World. Additionally, Imagineers will begin design work on this new park. My plan is to have the fifth gate open for our fiftieth anniversary in 2021.
In our resorts, attention will be focused on creating new and unique experiences at every resort. This means new restaurants and entertainment options. Additionally, a full-scale refurbishing of the amenities in every room will begin. No longer will resort level equate to quality of mattress. The comfort of our guests in our rooms after a day of experiencing the parks is extremely important.
Lastly, I am firmly dedicated to providing quality entertainment at reasonable prices. To that end, no longer will the Walt Disney World Resort increase ticket prices every year. We are dedicated to holding prices at the same level for at least two years, if not longer. If elected, in the time following my election, guests should look forward to the return of certain “plus factor” experiences. I am sensitive to the criticism that the Walt Disney World Resort operates to leave no money on the table. Profit will no longer motivate decisions. Enjoyment of our parks and the happiness of our guests will become our favored form of currency.
I know the DIScision will have consequences past the upcoming election. I am humbled and honored by the awesome responsibility I seek to take on and would be grateful for your vote.
